When we bought our house three years ago there were plans to dead end our street. I don't mind through streets, but it was nice to think our busy one would have less traffic. Now it's going to be a round about. And they are puttin a ton of retail on the corner. I like some retail, a corner grocery, a coffee shop maybe. But I am worried about the traffic and the our investment. I know, NIMBY alive and well at my house.

Bring somethign to eat and somethign to drink The last meeting that I went to I was there for 6 hours. Bring a book as well as listening to some fo the people drone on is such a pain. Once you mention your kids and the impact that it will have on th elcoal enviornemtn and QOL I'm pretty sure you can convinve them to table it. Just rememebr that you will have o go to all fo the follow up meetings as well.

We live three blocks from one of the main thoroughfares in my city. At the corner of Main Thoroughfare and the street that leads to my street, we have a bank with three drive-through lanes and a drive-up ATM. Until I read your post it would never have occurred to me that a used-car lot would be preferable to a bank. We like having the bank there because it's convenient and our bank is definitely more attractive than any of the used-car lots that line the otherwise skanky Main Thoroughfare. Would the bank necessarily direct more traffic to your street?

Good luck at the meeting!

The used car lot has no customers, so there is no traffic. But I'm not in favor of the used car lot. I am pushing on them to rezone this commercial plot, which is an island within a residential area, into residential.

Laura,

Isn't there some sort of business that would be a net plus for your neighborhood? A coffee shop, a small grocery, an indoor play area (useful on these hot days)?
