You've been teaching my students, obviously!

Ah, Laura, don't go beating yourself up with this apologetic "this blog will resume business" stuff--even at the heaviest points of this semester, you were still here, feeding the beast, sharing thoughts and links. Whereas I managed all of two posts in the month of April. So don't go changing; you're still my model.

My last lecture day is tomorrow. Then, test writing and giving and grading, then a couple of weeks of freedom before summer classes begin. And in the meantime, planting the garden.

Oh -- duh -- Somehow I commented to the wrong post. I meant to post it to the Floamy one.

It worked here, too, ADM. I thought of all the excuses my students gave this semester for late papers -- a smashed bumper on the car, went off the meds, never bought the textbooks.

I had a student whom I haven't seen in weeks show up for the final yesterday and say s/hed been out with a kidney infection. I said, 'doctor's excuse?' Didn't have one. Said, "I just didn't want you to think I'd been ducking out on class or anything ..." Limped off. It would have been much more convincing had the student, who plays a sport, not been witnessed playing said sport on numerous occasions by several members of class who had already ratted the student out!"
