Hey, no quicker road to becoming a grandma than giving your kids an unsupervised basement for their high school parties! 'Grandma' is something you want, right?

We have put in four sump pumps in our basement, in response to serious and regular flooding, and they are now working flawlessly, not a drop on the floor in the last storms. Recommendations: do the basement of your dreams, but do the floor with removable foam-interlock tiles, not mildew-prone carpet. Do the walls with greenboard. Sump pumps. And look at where your downspouts drain - can you carry the water far away from the house, to a French drain?

Worked fine in The 70's Show.

As to vlogging, I'm always running into people who think that a piece of print can be improved by (for all practical purposes) reading in on camera. Phil Carter (at Intel Dump) was describing some rather lacksadaical training he got before deploying to Iraq. He said that the sergeants had earlier just read off of Power Point slides; then they had themselves filmed doing the reading off of slides, and would just play the tape for the people being trained.

That's how a lot of video stuff gets done, with the possible addition of bad background music.
